Swim Drink Fish is an environmental non-profit focused on understanding and decreasing pollution in waters where communities swim, drink, or fish. We practice community science, an inclusive and collaborative approach to watershed management and research. Our methods are specifically designed to train community members to collect and share water quality information. While practicing science, communities feel more connected to their waters and culture. We provide lab equipment, resources and training for water monitoring to communities focused on swimmable and fishable waters.
We aim to turn communities' connections to water into meaningful action towards restoring and protecting local watersheds. All of us have a different level of connection to water, but through our programs that tell stories, support and build water literate communities, collect scientific data, and work to create access to blue space, we all collectively empower social and environmental change. These programs vary in scope, providing different epistemologies to capture the multitude of ways by which individuals and communities can foster their connection to water, so theyβre better equipped to support their neighbours in protecting their waters from pollution in a way that is impactful for all (human and non-human).

Water Sampling Pole Business Plan Development
Swim Drink Fish, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring swimmable, drinkable, and fishable water for everyone, is exploring the feasibility of selling water sampling poles. These poles are essential tools for collecting water samples, which are crucial for monitoring water quality. The goal of this project is to create a comprehensive business plan that outlines the market potential, operational requirements, and financial viability of this new venture. The project will involve market research, competitive analysis, cost estimation, and revenue projections, along with understanding how and where to manufacture this product in a cost-effective manner. By the end of the project, Swim Drink Fish aims to have a clear understanding of whether entering the water sampling pole market is a feasible and sustainable option for the organization. Being a non-profit, Swim Drink Fish is exploring diversifying our funding sources and we believe that by selling water sampling materials, we may generate extra funding for our projects that give back to communities in Canada. Key tasks include: Conducting market research to identify potential customers. Discovering a manufacturer for these poles Analyzing the costs associated with manufacturing and distributing water sampling poles. Developing a marketing strategy to promote the product. Creating financial projections to assess profitability.
Enhanced User-Friendly Toolkit Webpage for Swim Drink Fish
Swim Drink Fish, a non-profit organization dedicated to community-based water monitoring, has developed an online, free-access toolkit. The current version of the toolkit's webpage, hosted on Squarespace, lacks user-friendliness and advanced customization options. The goal of this project is to enhance the existing Squarespace page to make it more intuitive and accessible for users. This involves improving the layout, navigation, and adding features that go beyond the limitations of the base Squarespace model. By doing so, the toolkit will become more effective in empowering communities to monitor and protect their water sources. Key points: - Improve user experience on the toolkit webpage. - Enhance navigation and layout. - Add advanced features beyond the base Squarespace model. - Ensure the page is intuitive and accessible.

Project Description : Water Monitoring Toolkit Website Development Welcome to Swim Drink Fish! We are thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for talented students to contribute to our innovative project, Water Monitoring Toolkit Website Development. Main Goal : The primary objective of this project is to change our procedures for community-based water monitoring into a toolkit that is accessible on our webpage for community groups and volunteers. This project will be amazing for our organisation to be able to share tools and methodologies for water monitoring nationally, helping us strive towards having clean waters all over Canada. The procedures for community-based water monitoring are already written our in text format, but we need an easy-to-navigate website for people to follow to understand how to water monitor. Here is our current toolkit website. We would like this transformed into a website with more capabilities and easier to follow, like this website. This build-out should be done using squarespace so that it is compatible with our existing site.
